Sorry the photo isn't great, it would have been much better had I took it with my new camera but that would have involved a camera selfie and to be quite honest I would rather not scare any readers away, as today was a PJ day for my family with the weather being shoddy so I'm now in need of a shower after all the running around today. Its the start of the half term and the kids have run me ragged already, though I do really enjoy them being off school for family days even if it is just to parks.
So as half term was coming up and we have a weekend break planned the hubby and I decided to invest in a camera, we normally use our phones which do have decent cameras on but its just not the same as using a real camera.
We went for the SONY A5000 after reading some pretty good reviews and it having everything we wanted and needed. Its a compact camera so its much smaller than a bridge camera, which makes it slightly lighter and easier to hold and store away. I personally think it looks nicer, obviously that's personal preference.
Now I'm no expert on cameras and I'm not a photographer so I cant comment on all the technical jargon but I do know that for the price of this camera it seems pretty professional to me. One thing that was very important was a good focus, I really love to be able to get shots of the kids running and playing and as anyone with small children will know its almost impossible to get young children to sit still for a photo, with this camera it doesn't matter the focus is good enough it can take photos with children jumping up and down, I have found as I'm not a professional its easiest to keep it on "Auto" and if the lighting is slightly dim open the flash and the quality is fantastic.
You can record videos with this camera In top quality 1080 Full HD. The self portrait screen is another feature that compliments this camera, its lovely to be able to take family photos and get us all in "selfie style" and record videos for when I brave it and decide to become a vlogger (definitely something I want to try).
The Lens is detachable, so you can buy a lens with a better zoom and attach it, the zoom on this lens is 16-50 mm zoom (no idea what that means) which is sufficient for our family.
Now this next attribute got me really excited, drum role, wait for it, Wi-Fi, I looked like a kid in a toyshop, how technology has come on I can take photos and put them straight on Instagram or Facebook etc.
There is something called shutter speed which is how fast the shutter opens and closes (I think) and that is really good on this camera, I just keep clicking away and I haven't missed a moment in-between each photo, the only problem with me is I have already taken 1000 photos in 2 days 😂 oops.
Now for the downsides,
I have noticed the videos I have recorded have very low volume when using playback on the camera.
Its not a major problem. That's all from me on downsides.
The cost of this camera was £329 from Argos not the cheapest camera but not the most expensive either, personally its definitely worth it.
I would also like to mention that if you are considering buying a camera from Argos, if like myself you don't understand all the technical jargon don't rush into buying from this retailer, if you are not happy with the quality of a camera after opening it and trying is they will not accept returns and obviously you cant try before you buy with Argos as its a catalogue shop. I don't believe reviews alone are enough to buy a camera as what suits one person may not suit another.
Please note this happened with a previous camera not the camera I have reviewed in this post.
I will attach a couple of photos I have taken with the camera. If you would like to see more check out my Instagram page (link at the top of the page).
